Pole to hand/ river fishing, I use the same float: Tamas Walter Series 3. Very long carbon stem, rugby ball-shaped body, long tip. In 0.5g to 3g, superb, very well made floats. Get them from Angling Concepts/Spro stockists.
Silverfish work on canals/stillwaters I use:
Drennan Seed for delicate work in 4x8 to 4x16, replace the tips with longer ones though. You might struggle to find these now, but if anyone has any, I'll have them off you;-)
Mosella Manic Impact 6 in 4x10 to 4x16. Like a chianti but fibre bristle. Used for winter carping and silvers up in the water.
KC Carpa Porth in 4x16 to 2g. For skimmers on deck, carp on maggot in winter or silvers if bad weather conditions.
Tamas Walter Series 2 in 0.5g to 1.5g. For silvers on deck in calm conditions. Typical bloodworm float, teardrop shape with tapered neck into long, thin hi-viz bristle.
It might sound a lot of floats, but I stick to those plus 3 other patterns for carping and that covers everything. By limiting the amount of float patterns you use, you get used to how they perform and can read bites much better.

Great float richie. i struggled to get hold of them for a while so moved to the Garbolino DDS 13.
Quite similar, except the line goes through the body. Wouldn't go back to the Bernards now.
