The top of the 8 drawer was black, they had about 3-4 coats of paint applied with a roller followed by 3-4 of varnish again with a roller, finally a thin gold strip about 3 or 4mm wide was applied about 1cm up from the base. The fibre glass base was black with the colour applied to the gel coat, not painted. The 6 draw you could get in all black, two tone blue burgundy/blue or burgundy/black ( the burgundy being the base colour). A friend of mine used to work for Boss, and told me how they made them.

This is the 6 drawer that I refurbished.

The only difference is that the 8 drawer base was Black. The colour of the base is impregnated into the fibreglass gel coat and I was lucky enough that mine just needed a good dose of elbow grease and a decent coat of wax.
The drawer casing was in good condition once I cleaned it up and just needed a couple of minor chips touched in with some gloss black enamel prior to a good waxing.
The seat was recovered by a professional upholsterer.
The drawers were just stripped back and restained and varnished. However I did partition the drawers out to fit my needs at the same time.

Thanks creepy.
The box has a new home now as I've changed to a Platt-forms series 3.
