Default bream that fight to the net on carp tackle?

yesyerday i was fishing on the adac water toft mere in search of my first twenty. i was rudley woken by a screamer which i thought was a carp i hit it and had a good scrap on my hands and then i netted it to see an 8lbp bream looking at me which was followed shortley after by 2 more of around the same weight. didnt catch that carp how is this possible?

Its a pretty common occurence, in areas where both species exist the bream quickly switch on to carp baits due to the sheer volume that are introduced. Ive read many accounts (and seen a couple personally) of carp anglers being "plagued" by bream, particularly annoying on night sessions.Equally ive seen a bream angler on a carp lake being the only person with a smile on his face

yeh they did seem to me more confident to pick a carp bait up than say a piece of sweetcorn strange really but it was good sport all the same
