Default crucians carp in silvers match

What do you think. Should crucian carp be allowed in silver fish matches. Tomorow i wil be fishing a silvers match which i semi organise. The pond in question has a very small stock of crucian carp and i would expect at least 2 anglers to catch one. They weight around 8oz to 1.5lb. should they count!

be democratic and put it to the vote as long as everyone is aware of them counting (or not) then you should be fine. personally if it is a silvers match go with the ' all carp weigh 1lb' rule unless they weigh less than 1lb then their true weight counts.

A lot of 'silver fish' matches are actually 'non king carp matches', so put it to the vote.

Are you going to let tench count? Or perch?

In the interests of fish welfare I like the carp weigh 1lb (max) rule. I personally wouldn't purposely cause a breakage in the assumption the carp will shed the hook.
The rule makes the carp worth landing but doesn't spoil a 'silver' match by someone hooking a lucky double figure fish.
Best thing like CT says is for a quick vote before the draw.

I had a 4.5lb carp & 8lb of silvers a few weeks ago & came 7th of 9 ! (& the carp counted as 4.5lb). Don't think anyone else had a fish above 1lb & the top three were all over 20lb.

As an answer to the original question - Crucians are not proper Cyprinides, so aren't actually carp.

Therefore they do qualify in silvers-only matches; at least, they do in all the silvers-only matches I've fished.
