Thumbs up Hair Rigging

If you were hair rigging for Barbel on a river, how far or near from the hook would you put your BAIT.

Cheers

For meat etc or boilies I tend to use a hair length of about 1 cm between bait and bend of hook, quite a good tip is make a slightly longer hair than that, and if you want to shorten it up just whip the hair round the hook a couple of times. This way with uneven baits such as rough cuts of meat etc you can always achieve the same hair length without having to break anything down, and you can also experiment without needing to tie a new rig. Ive never found this to cause an issue with presentation etc.

With pellets I will often attach them directly to the hook either with a pellet band, or what ive started doing recently that is genius is pregluing a line of pellets to an elastic band that has been cut and laid in a line, cut that into peleet sections with a slight protrusion of the band at one end and you can slip the hook through the band. I think one of the chaps from A Passion for Angling suggested this in an angling paper and it has saved me loads of fiddling about with bait bands on cold days
