Talking hydro??should i or shouldn't i??

got a new 2nd hand pole,16 m ,map matchtek ultra 2. three top 2 carp kits, three top 3 match kits.two of the carp kits had grey hydro fitted, which i fully checked out before useing.hooked carp upto 6lb on it,and landed them.but i wasnt happy,as it felt ,well just odd.should i up to black hydro,or go with a solid 12 or 14 latex.whats the general consencus??(opinion for the un-educated!!)

Grey should be okay this time of year but when the carp start to wake up then Black hydro comes well recommended by a lot of people

Try it for yourself what suits one dont always suit all

the first match i fished with grey hydro i lost 6 carp in a row all about 6 lb. these were all in very quick succession as i was spraying up in the water. what i did find out though by taking one turn of or one turn on the winder it completly changes the way the elastic behave's. also hydro i find was hard to get used to for the first couple of hours but as soon as you have sussed playing fish on it you wont ever go back to solid elastics. i personally wouldnt change to a black just yet in case you hook somehting much smaller and you start tearing hooks out. stick with the grey for a few more months.

Grey hydro will stretch a long way.Thats fine for now,but when it warms up just tighten it up on a storer bung.I like to mess with the elastic on a pleasure trip,as it can take a bit of adjusting[and lost fish]untill you get it right. If you are after F1's grey is about right. But for lumps then you will need black hydro. But if you use the black on the F1's then like myself you might tend to lose too many fish.Thats why we need so many tops for our poles.

hydro is the way to go. if you do use black later on, dont know if anyone else does this but i cut my black hydro in half i get two top two's out of it, i find you have better control over the carp.
and does not go half way across the lake.
