Regional knock ups is a good idea, but you need to book well in advance and get people to pay up front, so that if they dont turn up the individual is out of pocket and not the organiser.
Also its good if you can find a friendly fishery that will only charge peg fees for the number that turn up and not the number that was booked. Fishery owners might be more considerate for midweek matches, as they would be filling pegs which may otherwise be empty.

Welcome back Paul.... looks like a few interesting ideas for the onsite competition, and obviously we want our site to be the best and be able to attract new active members.

We have the regions set up so we should make it a regional competition.. there are a few things to take into account -

Needs to allow everyone to compete - like canal anglers should'nt have to fish against commercial anglers but should have just as much chance of winning...

Has to allow people to miss odd matches but still be in with a chance as people will lose interest if they have no chance to qualify for the final..

Its not all about money (and I'm not promising anything just yet) but I will try to get the site some sponsorship to promote the site and to make the competition more interesting.

As we have the regions already set up what we need is official match organisers in each area - the more the merrier I say, anybody should be allowed to promote a match under the talkangling banner providing they advertise the match on the site and report the results to the site.

Now, just some thoughts at this stage but people should get a point for attending a TA match, then all we need to work out is a points system for the results - do we give points to section winners or do we give extra points to the top five ..... it doesnt want to be too complicated thats for sure - perhaps three points for a section win and 10 for a match win, 7 for 2nd, 5 for third, 3 for 4th, 2 for 5th and 1 for 6th....

Equally I dont want to exclude other anglers who fish opens and other large matches.... if possible we could have some system where anglers who get their name in the paper and mention TalkAngling in their results then they should get points too - providing they report the results back to the site...

This should all lead to league tables on each of the regions and culminate in the league winners .... everyone who achieves over a certain number of points is eligable to fish the final...

Suppose this all depends on some sort of sponsorship and getting the match organisers in the specific areas.... what do you guys all think....

I need your imput and lets get this all sorted out - other ideas all please contribute to this thread ....

Hi all,
i think regionals are a wicked idea, i have been to watch the uk champs organised by Mr Pickering himself and they are fantastic, and providing they are done right it is very entertaining 4 competitors as well as spectators. again it is run on a points basis with secyion wins etc on each lake and overall top 3.

the only thing is how many people would be allowed to fish etc as i have a feelin that their would be a vast amount from each region as a lot of anglers wether in a team or fish 4 themselves would want a piece of the action, i know Tom limits the UK Champs to around 85 people and they are the same people roughly each year and he has a long waiting list.

crackin idea tho and if you need anyone ta help organise round our area Simon, count me in.

Default re;matches talk anglers

Yes i agree its a sound idea and like said if this forum is to make it as big name forum we all need to make an effort to have get togethers and matches.I also think that the members who live in the same area should get together more regular, this could then produce area matches which would be about teamwork and i think a good laugh.anyone from the Teeside area on this forum?
