Default Pole pot feeding

When you're trickling bait in through a small pole pot & you hook a fish would you dump whatever is left in the pot before shipping back with the fish, & risk spoiling the feeding pattern you've got/trying to get going. Or try & bring the half full pot back in with the fish, but risk spilling the bait in another area of the swim where you don't want it ?

Ian, a good habit to get into if you are catching well is to turn the pole over once in the right spot where you are going to feed, but dont tap the pole to empty out the pellet - then when you get a bite and strike the bait drops out on the strike (if you have it as the right consitency).... hope you see what I mean.

I was thinking more of if you were drip feeding 3-4 pellets/casters every few seconds or so & then hooked a fish. Assuming you still had a half a pot full left would you dump em or bring em back.
I'm not at that fine tuned stage of fishing yet but was just wondering what someone who is would tend to do ?

P.s. when using this technique is the aim to wet the pellets enough so that they stick together & hold inside an upturned pot but not so much that they don't break up when falling through the water ?

there is a pole pot called a pepper pot which allows you to sprinkle a few pellets/casters and keeps the bait secure whilst playing fish. sounds like this could be what you require.

Personally i think if you are drip feeding you should be using a catapult and if you restruggling to feed that accurately you have the wrong catapults and pouches.

Ifyou dampen the pellets before the start of the session they should be able to stick together just right.

i would dump the lot in once i hooked a fish. this should make the fish go in a feeding frenzy and by the time you have shipped back out the feed would of already been eaten and leave the fish queing up for your hook bait.
