Cool extra large float tip

Hi, Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for pole float tops that are extra large. One of the old boys that I fish with has an eye problem, which means he loses sight of the float tip (No it is not a bite). Tried doctoring a few floats with inserts but still no good, at the moment he can only fish the feeder and basically has to wait for a proper wrap round in order to notice it.
Any help with this will be very much appreciated as the bloke has been fishing for 70 years and is getting frustrated the eye specialist seems to think that there will be little or no improvement.

Hi mate, have a gander at Mary floats or keiths tackle on ebay, I build my own pole floats and get the tips from here Mary's are hollow 1.9mm hollow 15 cm in length so you can cut back to what size you want. If the above names are incorrect type pole float tips or pole float accessories in the ebay search parameter.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot mate I will look up that stuff straight away. Hopefully they should be large enough for him to see. He has tried wagglers but he even finds the straight ones hard to see at 4 metres.

Its only an idea but you could try attaching the flight from a set of darts. You could cut the size with a pair of scissors. You can probably buy florescent ones aswell

Thumbs up

Thanks a lot for all the help chaps. I have printed all the bumf off for him to have a look at. Like the idea of the dart flights royst, big as a pike bung he should be able to see that.
Again thanks and tight lines.

Hi Billynobites
All I did was tapped into the search bar pole float stems, then pole float tips and it brought up the sellers I advised on the previous post. I will have another look tonight and see if I can get the sellers ID's for you they are very good grade.

I would also recommend having a look at the cotton ear buds, may sound strange but believe me when the buds are removed they will fit over the top of many standard pole float tips, there are also available in different colours, but could also be painted with a enamel paint of your choosing.

Regards

Pastie

Thanks a lot Pastie, found the Keith’s stuff and have given him the info, I think he is going to get some of the 4.5mm tips. Another great idea the plastic cotton bud tubes. Fished a club match with him on the Slough arm Sunday. He beat me on the tip so he was happy he caught a few fish. Some one gave him what looked like little dart flights made out of plastic Royst but they were not in the packet so I do not know the manufacturers name.
Thanks a lot everyone for all the suggestions
