Default Loosing fish

As i've mentioned before i've not fished for 3-4yrs, while i've been away my local club has like many other places introduced a barbless hook rule.

This is fine but what ive found in the few sessions ive fished so far is that im loosing most fish i hook when the line goes slack when i'm shipping my pole back.
Any tips or hints to overcome this? How do i keep a tight line?

Drop down 1 or 2 grades of elastic that should act as a buffer and give you a little security when shipping back.

Im guessing the problem is you losing contact with the fish whilst shippoing back the slack is then letting the fish off the hook literally, having a smaller grade elastic should ensure a reasonable amount is out at all times, break down as normal and play the fish off the top 3 or what ever the breakdown point is

what justin said was spot on but to help a little bit more you need to be smoother on the ship back. it sounds as if your to jacked and this is when the line goes slack.

what size fish are you catcing? roach?

make sure you roller is flush to you and not on a angle.
