Thats a problem I suffer with a lot, Im quite a messy angler using baits like sweet corn and meat tend to dry out on the pole and make it very difficult to ship back smoothly

but there is a solution to your problem

Firstly get you pole and clean it thoroughly with warm soapy water get every peice of grime off.

Go to the car spares shop and get yourself a bottle of "Son of a Gun" do the final clean with that, and polish it up when it dries.

All you need after that is a damp towel and clean the pole after every session to keep it shipshape, the pole will fly through your hands.

I have this problem with the Diawa G8 it has very small grooves in the pole like a banding its a part of the manufacturing process and these groves although very small fill with all the bait and slime from your hands.

I hope that helps

Try washing the pole and then cleaning it with Mr Sheen furniture polish same effect as sun of a gun but you can nick it off your better half and not have to pay for it!!!!

When using corn and meat, fill your tub with water then pour it out and its not as sticky and your pole dont get sticky either

There has been quite a few times I've wanted to ask this question while I was on the bank, but then forgot when I'm back at home (i.e. near computer).
Anyway, I don't get too much of a problem shipping back but shipping out when everything has been wet & is then drying out can be a b'strd, especially when you have a pole pot/cup on & fishing @ 12m +.
Using something to make the pole super slippery worries me a bit because periodically through a match I like to give each section a little twist to make sure nothing is coming loose, if it floats through your hands too easily you may miss the little indications of a loosening section, hook a fish with a loose section & you could end up waving bye bye to half your pole !
