You probably just need to watch one of the better anglers to see what they are doing different. Instead of fishing next Thursday, sit behind Pete Sivell and just watch. Save the questions for after the match unless he's talking to you.

In general, watching the better anglers will always pay dividends. Go into Avon Angling and see where Tony is fishing next, then see if he minds you coming to sit and watch.

If your basic angling skills are up to scratch: casting accurately, feeding regularly often while doing something else, plumbing up correctly etc, you just need to find out more about the winning methods. That comes from mixing with the better anglers, so don't be afraid to talk to them.

or better still, come and sit with hayley behind me!!! i'll let you into a few tricks of the docks!!! shane, you have only fished with us about five times, and pete, merv, dave and the rest, all have at least TWENTY years more experience down there.you had a good draw, but you didnt catch, because ,not of your ability, but because of your knowledge.its a very hard water mate, and i was always last, for at least three years on the trot.its only now, that after listening to the others and watching them, that im finally getting the odd result.you are not a bad angler, youre just inexperienced.the best angler to sit behind and watch, when he comes back down is paul isaacs.paul is about ten years younger than me,but he told me what i was doing wrong, and showed me things in a whole new way of thinking.keep coming down mate, and you will be fine.speak to you soon mate!!
