Hi all, what do you use as bait stops for the hair rig ? I have tried the plastic dumbell ones but for some reason they don't seem to hold the corn or meat on, also what is the best way to fish the hair rig ? over depth or dead depth ?
Thanks, Jeff.
jeff. it doesnt matter what depth you fish it at. ive used it up in the water with pellets and meat when silvers have been a problem. also used it for corn and boilies, meat ect on the tip. as it was first invented it was only for holding very hard baits next to your hook. the hooking efficentcy(spelling) doesnt change with the dpeth you fish at.
a good tip for fishing it is the softer the bait the closer to the hook you can fish it. also on the striaght lead in winter a gap of 3 inch between bait and hook will bail more fish than a shorter hair.
Jeff i also use the quick stop they are by far the best hair rig stops. I used to use the dumb bell type the problem with them is that they are likely to come adrift on the retrieve and in the cold they are fiddley to fit. Try the quick stops and you won't be sorry.
