Default Cheating bait limits and types

Do you guys see much of this on your local venues - I have taken to walking and chatting to a few people on matches recently if I find that I am struggling then I will go for a walk and watch those that are catching just to see what they are up too.

I am not going to name names but several top flight anglers I have sat behind recently have had banned baits or non fishery pellets on their bait tables or been seen feeding pellet which are strickly for hookers only.... if this is how people want to win then surely they should look at themselves and think that they are cheating or has it come to the point that a fishery will say "Its only our feed pellets" and alot of people are simply ignoring the rules?

Am I being naive but now I feel like I am at a distinct disadvantage on occassions, especially where bait limits are being abused.

Anybody else spotted similar occurances and what do you think the best way is to tackle this without basically causing yourself tons of grief from certain groups of anglers.

very good topic simon

how to tackle it without giving your self grief is a sticky subject mate

i think you have 3 options ,

1 . say something to the said anglers when you see what they are doing

2 . say something to the owner of the venue ,

3. stop entering those matches and make it known why

Hi simon

Im afraid it is rife amongst alot of the win at all costs type of angler!,recently i have heard the lame "i buy my pellets in bulk and they are the same as the ones they sell here! excuse.it gets on yer nerves dont it!
The more rules and regs a fishery has, the better it is for the cheats!
and the honest anglers are at a BIG disadvantage!

Random bait checks by the fishery managers or match organisers with no excuses entered into, by paying the pegging fee you will have automaticly accepted the terms of the fishery, catch one or two out and it will stop albeit only for a little while and then the random checks need to start again.

I have seen the cheats at Colemans fishery Essex and one of the reasons I stopped going, 1 tin limit on catmeat yet I see 3 pint tubs full up thats 4 tins all day long in my book, people comment that it doesnt matter as it doent fish to the meat but thats not the point those that cheat weill cheat at every oppertunity.

The other thing that could help is clear and concise rules, far too often rules can be misinterpretated, and the minute there is a loophole it will be exploited to the max

Must be same, hemp mixed with chop worm/caster,just makes u think how often these people do it or have done it in the past, winning big matches in the process. Many people push the rules ,i have done in the past but to have a bait that is not allowed is blatant cheating, thats why he's banned from the fishery.

Its rife all over but some fisheries do not help by having different rules for Opens and club matches (these are not necesarily published just passed on) and people carry on regardless. If i ever spot anything a blatant bit of loud sarcasm / quetioning always seems to work cos if one mentions it the whole lake will mention it at the weigh in.
Well done to Woodlands view is all i can say as it takes a brave fishery to ban a 'name'

Now, after thinking about the topic....would it be an idea to tip off the organiser of said matches, so that they or someone on their behalf can check during the match ?

If the cheats knew this could happen, maybe the would play the game.
