Default What line to use!

I have always used preston power line 4lb on most of my rigs but I tried the garbo line in winter as it has a smaller diameter and the same breaking strain. The problem I have is that the preston line seems far stronger as i have lost quite a few fish using garbo due to the line breaking but the fish are the same size as i would bag up with on preston. I would like to know if anyone know's of a small diameter line with good reliable breaking strains?

Any advice would be appreciated

You'll quite possible find you'll get as many different opinions as you get replies.Sadly it's a matter of trial and error,I use Ultima Power Match and would strongly reccommend you try this for starters.

Personally i dont think you can go far wrong with Power Line. Alternatively i use Stroft and have recently started using Hercules, both of which i can highly reccommend. However as Duffman has stated you will get varying opinions and basically its trial and errror.

The last time I used a micrometer on powerline it's diameter was well understated .17 was .18 for example. I have been useing Stroft for a couple of years now and have had no problems and it's near enough spot on when you mic the diameter.

Having said all that line is a very personal choice and for everyone who rates a line you will find someone who doesn't.

The Garbo line is under rated for diameter but not by the same amount as Powerline. Stroft is similar to Powerline in its diameter rating.

Personally I use Sensas Feeling, it ties very nicely, is much closer to the diameter rating and is reasonably strong for its diameter.

Bottom line (excuse the pun) is: use what you have confidence in.

If you're fishing for carp, try stepping up to more like 0.18 (8lb) you will get the same amount of bites and land many more fish and quicker.
