Thumbs up Wychavon Win For Dave Harrell

The Wychavon qualifier match held on the River Avon at Evesham was won by Dave Harrell with one fish, a carp weighing 18lb plus, off peg 46.

18lb river carp bet that took some landing on match gear, fair play to the bloke.

I'm with Fordy, everyone knows the rules. You cant just get up and go wandering about, we certainly can't! But I guess with his magazine a major sponsor of the event, he can do whatever he wants?

I don't know the rules but would expect to find them out before or at the draw, I would then stick to them or expect to be disqualified. I've got nothing against Mr Harrell but how come he can bend/break the rules. This smacks of the same two tier system that poleman1 has just raised in another thread.
It seems that if your a known good angler (at whatever level, i.e. small club or national) you somehow are allowed more say or more leeway than the not so good anglers. It's a theme that has been repeated in one form or another in numerous threads - your money's wanted but your opinion isn't.

P.s. hats off to him anyway for landing the fish, as already said that's no mean feat on match gear.

Are you not allowed to leave your peg during a match then, what happens if nature calls.

Good question
Like I said I don't know the rules that apply in this case, but on the commercials people often go walkabout.
I can only assume there is a bit more to it than finding the nearest bush

Lots of views on this topic about leaving your peg.

I personally dont mind anybody walking about during a match, I do it and will go and and have a chat to a mate or even sit and watch somebody who's catching if i'm not, as long as youre sensible and respect the ' space ' of the angler I cant see a problem, likewise i've not got a problem with anybody sitting behind me or coming to chat to me during a match.

Fished open matches for years and never had a problem with me or anyone else walking , as long as your rods are out of the water . Didnt actually know it was against the rules .
