Default club rules

does anyone out there belong to a club where rules in their club books change during the season and new ones bought in but not even discussed at committee meetings. or even members being told of rules changing just because a couple of people dont like somebody.but when challenged about actual rules being ignored that are in their club book which obviously were discussed at agm level they dont like it because they think they are above the rules but ordinary members have to abide by them or they are chucked off their lakes. yes these people do exist and just want to spoil it for people so that in the end drift away from their club , maybe that is their goal . these empire builders achieve nothing but continue with their sad ways.

It's common place poleman1. They are the 'small club mafia', even the payouts differ from match to match depending who makes the top the three. I don't think there is any premeditated malice in it as it's only usually a couple of quid one way or the other but they're so far up their own ars... I mean rear ends that nothing will change. It doesn't matter that you all paid the same to join the club, it seems that only the talented few are allowed to have a say.
As I don't make the payouts anyway I intend to fish the opens next year, I can pick the wkends I want to fish & I'm not wasting/losing any club membership money for matches that I miss.
I've fished two at Hallcroft already this past month, cost me a few quid extra but hey it's only money, the match angler must have a minimum of two grands worth of kit on the bank so what's another fiver.
I've said it before & I mean it, if fished against & beat the same anglers every match I would want to step my game up a bit & fish against better anglers than me - I must like the chase..... don't think the small club mafia's do like the chase, they prefer their comfort zone

Well said Ian.B, Just like to add that not all clubs are like this. I fish a lovely lake in the south west which has a couple of hundred members, probably only 40 of us fish in the matches. These members range in ability from people who just enjoy being by the water to people who spend alot of time, effort and money to be at the top of their game. At no point since i have fished there has anybody knowingly made anybody feel uncomfortable due to there ability, and no rules have changed to push people away. I won the first match that i ever fished on there and all the local big names took to me well and i am good friends with many of them. If a club is being run badly or unfairly, leave it. There are plenty of good ones about.
