Got a match on the Island Pool in a few weeks time. I know of the fish kill last year but just heard it has had another. Can anybody confirm if this is true or not?
Cheers

Had a contest on willow pool cancelled last week and moved to the old pool which fished very well 73Ib won, the contest on willow was moved due to low oxygen levels and the aerators were put on,l heard they were still catching on the willow, but have not heard anything about the other pools having a problem, you can phone John Jordan on 01905 429206 and he will give excellent advice on how his fishery is fishing, all the best.

Island fished pants on saturday. Think 57lb won the lake. All catches were mainly lumps off the island on the feeder. I didn't see a silver fish all day. Many dead or dying fish floating on top on the other pools. Wasn't a pretty sight and me thinks he has a serious problem although it may just be oxygen has the aerators were on up to the start of the match and as soon as the all out sounded. Good luck on your match. Will be interested to hear how it went for you. 21 on the pool when we fished.

Nearly all fish caught against the island on pellet feeder. Was blowing a gale so holding a long pole was impossible. Only saw one angler catch down edge and that was the roadside corner peg at the ash pool end of the lake if that makes any sense. Many of the fish caught were proper lumps up to 22lb, except mine! Don't know how I always manage to catch small carp? Would be grateful if you would let us know if the other pools still have dead fish floating in them. Had never seen a sight like it last week.

I was on sycamore the same day as moonshine was on old pool our match was won with 68lb-8oz--68lb 4 oz---60lb he had the airators on all day on our pool, saw dead fish being removed out off old pool but didnt see any on sycamore unles they had done it before we arrived. The bailiff said it was down to low oxygen levels in the pools and who am I to argue it could be at this time of year

Yes ridge I agree with you that it may be an oxygen problem. On the one pool one angler was spotted scooping a dying fish off the top and dropping it quickly into his keepnet. Needless to say he never weighed in! Also anglers casting over half dead fish trying to foul hook them. Amazes me the depths some people will sink to to win a match. It would appear not all anglers are too bothered about fish welfare which I find very sad and annoying. Think this may be a topic for another day.

Big G, Fished island pool on Sunday 31lb won it, I was 2nd with 22lb, 15lb was 3rd.
Guy who won was casting a feeder to the start of island by Ash pool, I was half way down island on the road side and fished to island with pellet feeder for 3 hours without a bite so went to 7m on the pole and had 3 bream, 2 carp and some silvers and lost one carp. Same peg won last years contest. Crap weights compared to last year. Wind was really strong and blowing into the dam. Assume it was the owner checking for dead fish before match he never spoke to any one and the airators were on all day. The baliff were very low key too only saw him before and after match, got no lecture about tins on bank etc like we usually get.
