I used solid elastics for years. The only problem I had was elastic snapping after bottoming out on big fish. I wondered if it was just a fault in the laccy so did some tests with new stuff straight of the spool and was able break it by hand quite easily. I have since been using black and red Hydro and it appears to be unbreakable. It only stretches a long way if you set it too loose or your length of laccy is too long. (IMO)

iv been using Middy Shock Core 12-16 hollow for most of my carp fishing, very supple but as plenty backbone for when you hook big lumbs. Also the 6-10 yellow that is perfect for skimmers, F1, big roach. It retails at £5.99 for a 5m spool. Super stuff at the right price to...

Im with Bassy on this, the Middy laccy seems to be leaps and bounds above most of the other commercial brands right now, anyone that hasnt tried the middy yellow hollow for skimmers should give it a shot, its so forgiving in the event of hooking anything bigger it just keeps going, you do however need to use a pulla bung and the event of that happening.

the middy hollow blue foir medium carp to around 8lb and blue solid for the big boys, I like Hydro and have many tops made up with white through to red but I have noticed a lot of hook pulls on the heavier stuff, this is indeed a personal preference subject and I must have purchased every laccy made trying to sort out my needs, also a lot has to be said for how you fish especially how you play fish.

For big fish I like the Vespe 22+ (solid) with a Maver Molleto bung for extra stretch. I have used Red hydro but found I can land fish quicker with the Vespe set up and its softer with the Maver bung. I hope to give it a go on Boddingtons next week end

CT I think all the solid is in 5 metres plus 1 free metre itrs only the hollow that shortens up

its certainly good value for money, the nyellow hollow I cant stress enough how good that stuff is you cant miss it either its like a luminous yellow you can drop your pole while playing a fish and its still on as I have done in the past, also the jumping skimmers dont unhook themselves
