Also good advice thanks Ozzie.
On Saturday I beat a few to my left but couldn't see any of them due to a big bush. Chap on my right was catching nicely and dead opposite they were really bagging - that's when the 'what the flip are they doing/feeding that I'm not' questions start niggling me in the back of my mind

It is not easy to do, but try ignoring what else is going on and concentrate on your own match. I find it easier to say to myself "I'm here to have a day's fishing and I'll be there or thereabouts", that way I am very single minded but don't beat myself up if I miss out.

How many times have you been so close to framing or winning a section and if you're really honest, what cost you was the ten minutes looking for a bonus because you could see Joe Matey bagging? And when it came to the weigh in, you beat the angler you were concerned about!

In one of the other threads a couple of weeks ago, I talked about my ruthless attitude this year. That was what I was talking about: being single minded and ignoring the bankside rumours.
But equally, you must accept that you are there for a day's fishing, so don't pack up early, keep plugging away and the time spent will pay off eventually.

Very true that, I have noticed on occassion that at times you think you're well off the mark but come the weigh-in things are a lot closer than you'd think, especially in winter matches - funny how other peoples fish always look a lot bigger when they're netting them on the other side of the lake.

larry teepot hit the nail,we have an angler who is constantly on the phone to a very, very good angler,he has only been doing this for the last 6 matches and has won 5 and framed in the other.last seaon he only framed twice.but fair dues,he has to put into practice what basically a blind man is saying, are they topping, water colour, features, depth, peg number....etc.not one person has a problem in our club who have discussed this and i only wish i had a mate like this (mine can tell me the decor, lights, bandit, crisp selection)in a pub,but there wll be times when his advice is not accurate and and all does not fair well.its an advantage he is taking and good luck to him..........ggggggrrrrrrrrrrr (at least he gets a beer in with the money at end of match)
