Size matters
Just been reading a pellet thread in the 'bait chat' section (about best brands). Who thinks though, on match day, size (big or small) has more influence than brand, colour or flavour ?

Depends where in the country you are fishing.
I did some filming at Stafford Moor yesterday, fishing the bomb with 11mm pellets. Explaining why we feel the need to fish 11mms, the tip went round and an 8oz skimmer came to the net on cue.
Should have fished the 14mms!
Feed 3mm at Stafford Moor and you won't see a carp all day. You might get 80lb of skimmers though. lol

i tend to use micros in the winter and 4-6MM in the warmer months but that's just my opinion it works for me.
Obviously i will make adjustments for the situation but that's my starting point.

I'd let this one go but since you've revived it I try & explain better what I meant. I wasn't asking what everyones favourite size pellets were..... the question I was asking is (this sounds complicated but it's not !)
If you could only take one category of pellets to a match would it be
A mix of flavours (but all the same size)
A mix of floaters & sinkers (but all the same size)
A mix of brands (but all the same size)
A mix of colours (but all the same size) etc etc, or would you prefer
A mix of sizes from micro to 10mm / 12mm etc although all the same plain flavour.
Just wondered what peoples thought were on the single most important element of a pellet. I know it's never that simple but generally speaking if you could only take one mix with you which would it be... a mix of sizes, or flavours, or brands etc etc ?

I only use Ringers or GOT expander's 4 ml. 4ml halibut deep or 8mm halibut shallow, where allowed or fishery pellets of the same sizes, when winter arrives pellets go away till spring, I know a load of anglers catch on pellets but I have no confidence in cold weather, perhaps I should take more care reading posts, I apologise

No need whatsoever to apologise mate, it's not a serious thread I just wondered if a mix of sizes was more important than a mix of flavours etc, but I didn't explain myself very well.... certainly no harm done

I tend to keep away from adding flavours they cause me no end of confusion, I'm better keeping it simple matching pellet sizes to the style of fishing I'm doing.
So I go on sizes not flavour.
