Default Maver signing

Maver have announced the signing of Dorkings Ben Leach as a consultant , the young star is to leave Daiwa and switch to the tackle giants , i can see why he has done this but i only hope that he doesn't start telling us that the Maver gear is better than Daiwa's , as it was only weeks ago that he was shouting from the rooftops about Daiwas new aritey . We'll wait and see.

I'm a little sceptical sometimes about star's endorsements, but understand why they would do it. And, let's face it, the best Maver pole is not that far short of the best Daiwa pole, best Shimano pole etc...

As long as the said sponsored angler uses and believes in that gear, and doesn't swap every couple of weeks, I'm happy with filming them.
If Ben is signed as a consultant, he will have a hand in developing the gear, so should have complete trust in what he's using.

I know he was happy with his Airity pole, and have shot a feature with him using it, but expect he will use and endorse a Maver pole now and be happy with the performance.

Yeah , i fully understand that they have got to endorse a companys products but looking back at an article i think was in match fishing , when asked for the one thing he couldnt be without ben replied his airety pole . I would much rather them say , look , i use a daiwa etc , its a lovely pole and im more than happy with it , but when they say " its the best pole in the world" then a month later they say it about another model they just make themselves look silly . Mark Sayer does/did the same thing in A/Times , this is the best rod ive ever used then the same again the next , like you say steve , its their job , but it just gets a bit boring after a while .

I also remember in an article Ben saying about some anglers turning up,and lets face it we all like to buy the best we can afford,i quote ALL THE GEAR AND NO IDEA,Ifound this abit offensive as we all strive to buy the best we can afford and not everyone gets sponsured, maybe if someone brought maver gear he may think, good luck to them,I may take them as pools fodder, but buying what I may now have an input into, good luck to them??????????????????
I wonder if hes selling his gortex as im after one?????????????????????? kev

if someone offers a better deal be truthful how many of us wouldnt take it..its about getting on in life and we all have to do it.Not many of us are wealthy enough to ignore better deals. But we are all quick enough to moan when anglers change allegencys

As Ive already said Larry , i fully understand why Ben has done this and most people would but that isn't the point of the post . The post was intended to highlight that fact that people shouldnt say things just for the sake of it and for monetary gain then 2 weeks later change their minds because they dont endorse the brand anymore . A good example of this is Mark Pollard using a Malman float in an article and stating that it was a Fox prototype , mistake maybe , but me thinks not .

At the end of the day does it really matter ? he could be sponsered by durex,

Ben will still be Ben and Maver poles will still be

Anglers jump sponsers its a part of the progression through the ranks in this industry, just like football teams seek better sponsers, Im a mad Arsenal fan I wouldnt buy a Dreamcast and chose Xbox I wont fly Emirates and I bought an Arcam instead of a JVC,

We have choices, if he wants to shout for Maver thats his perogative and I have no doubt he will look like the Jolly green giant and preech maver this and maver that within a few days, but you cant knock him for it.

From a business point of veiw, his deal with Daiwa must have been poor at best to make such a move, to move from a multi national that has a product range to die for to a company that has very few good products and a lot of bad ones just doesnt make sense, I can only think they have a new flagship pole about to be launched and they need a name on it.
