Wen your fishing same bit o water regular, you'll know what size floats t use and prob only be using same 3 or 4 floats.
I store waggler rigs the same way leaving the float adaptor on .
Is it best to use the same line as you have on the reel for the stick-rig, or would you go for a finer 'pole' line to make the rig & then an even finer hook length. Just notice that reel lines seem quite a wide diameter compared to pole lines for the same strength.

Thanks

i just use the reel line.
Set stick up on the bank wat your gonna use, then at end of session just cut off the main line 3-4ft above float an tie your loop(which needs to be big enough to enable winder to pass thru) and store on winder.

the best line is gorilla float,i wont use anything else for the stick. Rig wise i use a trick kim milson showed me and put just line shots and hook on a small winder then attach float to main line then add rig off winder below. two good reasons for this are no knot above stick to sink line and if you get a break you will get your float back as it should go below the float.

Use the line your happy with your regular stuff will do, just keep the diameter down, you can make most monos do what ever you want them to do, fairy makes it sink anything greasy makes it float.

Your comment about Mark Downes using a loop on the pre made rig and then a blood knot to connect is probably to save passing the entire rig through the loop and this keeps the knot very small, wind plays a big part in stick fishing, strong down streamers make things very difficult especially fishing out, make sure you use a float that will cope with the constant checking of the line and not one thats too small.

One last trick for the bulk down rigs use an olivette a fixed one preferably, its so much neater and minimizes on tangles, and always have spare float rubbers on they go quick when you are bagging.

That sounds like good advice, so in effect you have a very, very long hook length ?

All ways use 3 rubbers as when the wind is getting a bit awkward u can take the top rubber off and sink the line a bit, works real well.

DONT use a pole line on any part of your rig if you're fishing running line, especially if you're fishing light. Use a stretchy hook line - elastic is far more forgiving than carbon after all!

It doesn't really matter that much if the line your rig is made up on is heavier than the reel line, so long as the hook length is lighter than the reel line.
