Ive recently brought a shimano sedona 4000rb reel from the US,for $49.99 its a lovely reel with spare aluminium spool,features drive system S,3 arb bearings,dyna ballance,power roller,fluidrive II,super stopper II,fightin drag....the uk equivalent is the exage rb which cost £64.99...not USD, why do we in the uk have to spend whey more??? what do you think about it?

You have to look at so many factors

Taxes are high, fuel is ridiculously high, that rubs off on everything from advertising to shipping then you got extortianate business taxes and crazy rents, sadly we are living in the tax age in this country, add to that the current exchange rates and its not hard to see why,
most japanese and chinese manufacturers like to trade in the Dollar, that also leaves us at a major disadvantage, sometimes I actually wonder how our tackle industry survives.

You also have to consider numbers or units as industry likes to call them. If in the USA a company can sell 100.000 units they set the market price for that volume. If in the UK they set a figure of 10,000 units the sales price will be higher. I am/was heavily into photography and the same rules apply there and the differences can seemingly be extortionate.

It,s like J.C said m8 Mainly to do with taxes as al products from food to clothes are taxed.We in this country are taxed on everything and anything.Thats why everything so dear in this country.
