Went up yesterday for a few hours and caught steadily on soft paste, this time it was all carp, smallest 2lb largest 4lb, for about 28lb. Took nothing else.
Lost three on hook pulls.

Match Report
Dog Lane Fishery
MiddleLake
Napton Warwickshire

April 7th

MiddleLake (20 pegs)

1st Paul Barnett (Warwick Porto) peg20 25lb 11oz feeder/meat

2nd Steve Lavelle (Dog Lane) Peg47 11lb 4oz Pole/pellet
3rd Vince Atkinson (Rugby Tackle) Peg 11 10lb 8oz Pole/pellet/paste

The day greeted the anglers with bright sunshine and a cool breeze this weekend at Dog Lane Fishery. Some caught from the whistle and it looked as though the day was set for a blistering finish, how wrong we were! Despite a week of sunshine the nights had been cold and frosty and this had kept the water temperature down and the fish at ‘mooching’ level.
First out the blocks and first overall was Warwick Porto’man Paul Barnett at peg 20, who stuck to the feeder all match and weighed in a net of 25lb 11oz pastie carp.
Second was Dog Lane’s own Steve Lavelle who fished on peg 47 using pole fished pellet over pellet for a mixed bag of 11lb 4oz
Third place came from the dam wall and went to Vince Atkinson of Rugby Tackle weighing in 10lb 8oz from peg 11.
The section wins were:
(A) Jason Redgrave (Rugby Tackle) peg2 6lb Pole/pellet/paste
(B) Colin Hawkins (Warwick Porto) peg22 9lb 6oz Feeder/pole/pellet/corn
(C) Josh Whitehead (Dog Lane) peg53 9lb 1oz Pole/pellet/paste

The draw for next weeks match will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm.

Match Report
Dog Lane Fishery
Middle Lake
Napton Warwickshire

April 14th

Middle Lake (15 pegs)

1st Roy Quail (Daventry AC) peg44 26lb 6oz Pole/pellet

2nd Geoff Eggison (Lime tree) Peg27 23lb 3oz Feeder/Pole/pellet
3rd Josh Palmer (Dog Lane) Peg 45 17lb Pole/pellet/paste

Dog Lane this week was fished at the southern end of the lake where it was expected the warmer water was still home to the fish that had been showing well to the weekday anglers, who had been catching well on single corn and pellet.
The weather was unseasonably warm and bright and the high pressure was sure to raise the fish off the bottom, or so we thought.
First place with 26lb 6oz went to newcomer Roy Quail who on only his second visit to the water sussed the situation and found the fish were actually taking the bait more confidently off bottom.
Second was Lime Tree angler Geoff Eggison on peg 27 who caught on the feeder and the pole and was only one fish behind with 23lb 3oz.
Third place 13 year old Josh Palmer of Dog Lane on Peg 45 followed Roy out to the 12m line but did not spot that he was actually fishing some six inches off bottom, despite this Josh put 17lb of Carp and two Bream to the scales.

The draw for next weeks match will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm.

Dog Lane was fished from all three banks this week and with bright sunshine and a cool wind there was plenty of ripple on the water and just enough chill to make keeping a fleece on.
The winning peg48, coming from the car park side, was fished by Dave Armstrong of Dams & Locks, who put together a very tidy bag of silvers caught on the caster for 28lb 1oz.
Second place came from the Dam Wall Peg 9 fished by Dave West of Fox Milton Keynes who caught on pellet at 13m and put together a catch of pastie carp and a tench for 17lb 12oz.

Match Report
Dog Lane Fishery
Middle Lake
Napton Warwickshire

April 28th

Middle Lake (23 pegs)

1st Vince Atkinson (Rugby Tackle) Peg17 30lb 14oz Pole/Pellet/Carp

2nd Alan Hancox (Team Lollipop) Peg22 18lb 11oz Pole/pellet/Bream & Carp
3rd Daniel Ellis (Swan’s Farm) Peg 18 15lb 7oz Pole/Worm & Maggot

Dog Lane was well attended this week and with 23 pegs in the bag it was anyones guess where the winning peg would be. Although there was bright sunshine the cool wind was blowing directly across to the far bank pegs. This left the anglers on that bank watching the car park side sitting in tee-shirts whilst they had to keep at least a fleece on.
This did not deter the angler on winning peg17, which was fished by Vince Atkinson of Rugby Tackle, who caught on pineapple flavoured pellet over hemp and corn for 30lb 14oz.
Second place came from the Far Bank Peg 22 fished by Alan Hancox of Team Lollipop who caught on pellet at 14m and put together a catch of pastie carp and bream for 18lb 11oz.
Third place was Daniel Ellis on the Dam wall peg 10 who fished worm and maggot on the pole and caught 15lb 7oz of carp and bream.
Section wins were:
[A] Paul Archer (Jets MG) Peg44 14lb 12oz
[b] Roy Quayle (Maver JGG) Peg9 11lb 3oz
[C] Josh Whitehead (Dog Lane) Peg21 9lb 12oz

The draw for next weeks match will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm.

2nd Pat Clarke (Team Lollipop) Peg22 19lb 11oz Pole/pellet
3rd Vince Atkinson (Rugby Tackle) Peg 18 18lb 6oz Pole/Pellet
This week with the wind blowing down the lake it was decided to fish both banks and leave out the dam wall pegs, the results showed that the far bank was the place to be with all the top three weights coming from there.
The winning peg came from peg 16 on the Far Bank and was fished by Roy Quayle using meat on the hook over groundbait.
Second place came from the Far Bank Peg 22 fished by Pat Clarke of Team Lollipop who caught on pellet at 14m and put together a catch of pastie carp for 19lb 11oz.
Third place was Vince Atkinson of Rugby Tackle on the Far Bank peg 18 who fished pellet on the pole and caught 18lb 6oz of carp.

Middle Lake (10 pegs)

1st Roy Quayle (Maver JGG) Peg22 42lb 12oz Pole/Meat/Corn

2nd Alan Hancox (Team Lollipop) Peg3 25lb Pole/pellet
3rd Paul Barnett (Warwick Porto) Peg 18 15lb 5oz Pole/feeder/Pellet
This week the wind was blowing the rain into the Car Park Bank and it was decided to fish the Dam Wall pegs and Far Side. The match was fished from the later time of 12:30pm to see if this made any difference to the catches.
The winning peg came from peg 22 on the Far Bank and was fished by last weeks winner Roy Quayle using his favoured meat on the hook over groundbait approach. The bulk of Roy’s catch came before 2:30pm and consisted of 27lb 4oz of carp and 15lb 8oz of Bream and skimmers.
Second place came from the Dam Wall Peg 3 fished by Alan Hancox of Team Lollipop who caught on pellet at 4m from the reeds and put together a catch of carp and tench for 25lb .
Third place was Paul Barnett of Warwick Porto on the Far Bank peg 18 who fished pellet on the pole and feeder and caught 15lb 5oz of carp and bream. This pushed Daniel Ellis “I ain’t got 10lb” into 4th place with his 15lb 1oz from peg 5.

The draw for next weeks match will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm.
