Default The Teepot August Bash ( Summer Classic )

To day saw some of the mid week stalwarts along with a few new faces entertain the crowds at Springwood Fisheries Derbyshire with a feast of banter and melodic singing because the fishing was a bit hard, following the usual pleasantries and general mickey taking, the draw was made and despite being early it still did not prevent us tackling up in the rain which seemed to start as soon as we left the comfort of the clubhouse, although not heavy it was enough to see most settling in under an umbrella, a few appeared to find the odd early fish but it was soon apparent that it was not going to be a bagging day, and that was the theme for the day nick a fish or two and then settle in for the next one, despite one absolutely heavy down poor and the odd flash of lightening spirits remained high and the match actually finished in sunshine.
On a personal note whilst I used my brolly to set up this was soon discarded and the new Talk Angling Fleece was tested to see how waterproof it was and came through with flying colours, albeit I was a bit damp round the shirt collar and the forearms soaked up a bit of juice the rest of me remained dry. So if you are on the lookout for a new fleece I can recommend the TA one from Quality Clothing.

The results were as follows

1st KPnuts 28-2-0 Carp on ledgered bread
2nd Weldec 19-2-0 Carp on the worm
3rd Brian G 13-12-0 Carp pellet and caster
4th Mastic Man 13-4-0
5th Cheekybrat 10-0-0
6th Kingfisher 9-2-0
7th Big Knob 4-10-0
8th Wormaster 4-2-0
9th Larry Teepot 1-0-0
10th Rikki-M 0-10-0

Many thanks to all who attended and a warm welcome to those who were fishing their first TA match with a big thank you to Larry Teepot for organising the day.

May I start by applauding all the guys and Gall who sat this one out, a known hard to fish venue and we all stuck at it what ever the weather threw at us. A big weight was always going to be hard to produce but very well done to KP NUTT for for landing the best weight of the day 28lb 2oz well done mate and nice to meet up again. Seems the best weights came from the one side of the lake, so a big up for Cheeky Brat with his weight of 10lbs to win his section, well done mate (no chang there then). Brian fish well and hard for his 13lb 12oz and taking his section also, well done Gaffer just pipping the youngest member of our Squad Mastic Man (another Northen lad) who landed 13lb 4oz. But the biggest thanks of all must go to our very own Mr T Pot who's organisation skills are second to none well done once again Larry. So what a day it was great to meet up with you all again a great set of folk to fish with, Big Knob thanks for keeping us entertained with the singing and the banter, Kingfisher (John) sorry if you could not understand my lingo mate, dont no much Welsh.LOL.

I'am already looking forward to the next encounter ??

Thanks all again for a great day out.

Talking Good Company

Well it started with the M1 closed a junction above us which meant we could not even get close to a getting on point. We risked being shot travelling into Nottingham for the next junction down but luckily Masticman told me we would be ok ( I was picked up in his immaculate truck).
We got to the venue just as we were about to turn round to try and find how we had missed it and there was everyone, a great friendly bunch of folks. Larry Teepot was still practicing (though we were told he was sorting out the pegs). We made our way to the clubhouse and had a drink and a well earned bacon sarnie during which of course we all made a point of calling everyone "DUCK."
Finally Larry stopped his practicing and sorted some pegs out (think he had already drawn his because I was next to last and there was only my peg in there). I felt he had his eye on 8th place for the bottle of whisky since he refused to land many fish, Luckily wormaster was continuing his bad run and was pushing him all the way)
the peg I drew looked good to me as we had seen some good fish topping whilst in the clubhouse (if you can't be good at the fishing bit be good at the draw), and lo and behold first put in got a crucian around the 10oz mark. next put in got a small carp around 6-8oz, oh yes I was on a roll. Unfortunately I must have put them off then since I had one more fish then nothing for an hour.
Opposite me I had Wormaster, Brian G and then Weldec, none of which were catching, surely I was in with a shout. I picked up the odd one or two fish but by this time Wormaster was dropping micro-perch off the end of his worm (and we are talking a maggot would have strangled these fish!), Weldec was losing a few, and Brian had sorted out what they wanted. Brian just said but they are only "babby's", these so called baby fish were nearly pulling him in.
We had a bit of lightening just to make it interesting then the weather turned out quite nice. With 5 minutes of the match remaining Colin (who I assume is the owner) came behind me and told me my peg had won loads of matches (told you I can draw well). He also told me how to fish it (in fact I had fished it right for about 20 minutes). I really wondered how I was going to admit to doing so badly off such a good peg but after seeing Larry teepots weight I realised I might have done Ok?
Packing up was another good time, brilliant sunshine, the only problem I had was that I was up to my neck in mud and it had gone all over my tackle (how was I ever going to get this stuff back into masticmans truck?) I hid my tackle over the fence before masticman came over looking like he had just stepped from the catalogue (now was my chance, while he was kept talking I threw my tackle in the back of the truck and covered it with the cleanest bits of my coat and fleece)
When we pulled off I am sure larry was still practicing (maybe he was fishing there the next day?)

Joking apart had a right good time and really enjoyed meeting everyone. Hope to get invited on some more in the future

Well I just want to thank everyone for making my FIRST match very enjoyable even the rain didn't put a damper on it!!! I knew I went to this match for a reason and that was to make Teepot look better he didn't come in last!!! Looking forward to taking you all on again sometime, maybe down here in Herfordshire!
