Octoplus Boldings
Two matches fished over the weekend of the 10th and 11th of May.
10th May:
Lake fished was Chesnut:
14 Anglers braved the red hot conditions, Carp were getting ready to spawn with some activity in the margins all day long and this was to set the pattern for the day with not many if any fish caught down the margins. Plenty of activity on the top though, the results are as follows:
1st Neil Pinder 91lb-4oz caught on top
2nd Billy Harrison 81lb-11oz fished tight to the island (Weldec T/A member)
3rd Tony Smith 71lb-120z caught on top
4th Gary Butcher 68lb-10oz caught on top (MasticMan T/A member)
5th Train 67lb-6oz caught on top
6th Terry Wiggins 63lb-4oz
7th Kyle Wood 62lb-9oz (Big fish 12lb-11oz) (Woodstag1 T/A member)
8th Nick Heath 52lb-12oz (Cheekybrat T/A member)
9th Shaun Green 50lb
10th Paul Davis 30lb 11oz
11th Terry Cheeseman 21lb (Worm Master T/A Member)
12th Dave Lilliman 17lb-9oz
13th Laurence Butcher 10lb-15oz
14th Graham DNW.
So off back to the Black Horse in Bridgnorth for some well earned refreshment and to see who has the staying power to be fresh for the following day's pursuit on the Ash.
Sunday 11th May
Lake fished was ASH:
Well this day was going to be a tester after the late night / early morning had by some, thick heads, hot sun and wobbly legs all add up to a restful day on the bank ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ for some .LOL.
Well the all in was called and some were really not all in to start with with the favoured pegs on the opposite bank this was going to be a tough match from the off. Loads of Carp cruising around on the top again meant the floaters would be tried but some pegs just did not produce again down to the heat and the spawning time of year. The margins were again devoid of bites plenty of fish swimming around the margins but they were not having it. While some were floating there stuff very few were fishing the bottom but this proved to be my lucky day and fishing tight up to the pedlow to my right feeding pellet and fishing worm it proved the right tactic switching to corn now and then also bought fish into the net, although weights were a little down on the day previous it was no more than we expected concidering the conditions.
Results as follows:
1st Billy Harrison 51lb-14oz caught on bottom (Weldec T/A member)
2nd Train 49lb-8oz caught on top
3rd Gary Butcher caught on top (MasticMan T/A member)
4th Alan Slack 19lb-11oz
5th Nick Heath 19lb-7oz (Cheekybrat T/A member)
6th Terry Cheeseman 17lb-1oz (Worm Master T/A member)
7th Kyle Wood 14-3oz (woodstag1 T/A member)
Terry Wiggins caught but DNW
Laurence Butcher caught but DNW
Paul Davies caught but DNW
Dave Lilliman caught but DNW
Tony Smith caught but DNW
Shaun Green caught but DNW
Neil Pinder slept like a log after a good night out DNW
So although most anglers caught it was very steady with only two decent weights coming to the fore with some guys finishing early for the long drive back home. Still nice to see 5 T/A members out of the top 7 weights.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.
