Default How do I feel!!!

Last wednesday I treated myself to a new pole. Off I went to fosters and found the perfect partner to help me tackle any venue. I was so excited I decided to do a session after work at a local pool. I set up as I would any other time, checked the spirit level on the box, set the roost up with all my shiny new tops on and prepared to plumb up. I started fishing in the margin's as it was late afternoon and after about 10 minutes my float showed signs of action under the surface. I was so excited about the idea of landing my first fish on my new pole. Another trickle of pellet over my float and bang the float had gone!

I lifted into what I thought at first was a tiddler as it didn't put up much of a fight, how wrong I was. I played the fish away from the margins and it took off pulling plenty of hydro with it! After about 5 mins playing the fish I got the net ready. I placed it into the water and went to scoop the fish in when CRACK! The foot from my box had snapped off. I started to fall backwards slowly. There was nothing I could do about it so let go of the top 2 and landing net and tried to get the rest of my pole out of the way before I crushed the new carbon.

After the missus wiped the tears of laughter away from her eyes she came to my aid and helped me up because my leg was trapped by my footplate. By this time everyone there was howling! I got to my feet only to see my top two swimming around the middle of the lake! I knew I was going to get wet! Down to my shorts I got in and started to walk out to the middle (which is 10ft deep I now know!!) and the bottom suddenly fell away and I was under! I swam the rest and got my top two which was now sitting on the edge of a weed bed with fish still on a nice 6lb mirror!!! Needless to say I felt like an idiot but I was told i'm not the first and I certainly won't be the last!

It was a preston 6 drawer box. It's been around tho so it's done it's time. Just stuck a new leg in and we are good to go again!

As for filming it. I have no doubt that it would have been shown on tv if I had lol!

brings back memories of many years ago running round a pond to then wade out and retrieve my top 4 in my boxer shorts not fun but at least no damage to pole and nice first fish on your pole
