Do you remember your first ever fish?
Where did you catch your first ever fish and who took you?
Were you hooked straight away??
I think I was 6 at the time I caught my first ever fish, dad took me to a place called Egham pit a little gravel pit surrounded by trees and really pretty...
He set me up and baited my swim and left me to it while he went to do some 'proper' fishing in the next peg. I can still remember that float going under and the fish pulling for the lilly pads - after the most exciting 2 minutes of my life up to that point a tench about 3lb was in the net!!!
Can anyone beat that as their first fish?

my grandad took me to five mile house, on the 7.25 am train from lincoln,we had to stand on the train as it was full of anglers, any way the first fish i caught on a home made cane rod,the butt was made from a snooker cue,if i remember right the rest of the rod was green hart a centrepin reel that was made in the tool room at claytons,
my first fish was a roach of about 4 ozs caught on a grain of wheat, that was 46 years ago but only seems like last week
by the way i still love catching roach on seed baits

Mine was a roach caught on tackle made by ourselves as kids, a saftey pin cut at the loop, point bent over to form the hook ( first barbless ) line tied to the pin loop and to a bamboo cane, the float was a porcupine quill pinched from Dudley Zoo and the shot was lead nicked from the roof of our brew house where the women did the washing, the pool we fished at John's lane ( Jacks Lane ) Tividale was full of roach. those where the days ( Like Hell )

i was 8 or 9 at askern boating lake,my mates brother took me and we fished from a boat.he set me up and i can remember he put corn as bait, the float went under and i can remember asking :what do i do:the result a tench about 2lb,went home hooked and for every xmas and birthdays my presents were fishing tackle, can remember going on trent and walking 2-300 pegs across filelds and styles and more fields every satuday with half pint of maggots and some groundbait and weighing in ounces in all weather, but catching 3 barble about 3lb each at collingham on worm that i dug from the bank is still to this day the best feeling i have ever had to thiss day, iwas about 12.TRY WALKING THAT FAR WITH THE TACKLE YOU HAVE TODAY

I remember the old man taking me when I was about 6 we went to a side shoot of the River Lea at Ponders End the section was always known as Tempo's after the retail store that was once there,
I had two roach to his one, about 2 ounces a peice but that was enough for me I wanted to be on the bank every day there after, I remember the rig clearly a double rubbered peice of peacock quill and a large shot about 4 inches from the hook, the fish must have been nuts.
