Default Something a little different

Walking up Hellvelyn in the lake district tommorrow with some lad's from work.
A 9.25 mile walk with over 3,00ft of ascent & it will probably give me a heart attack

Still its a little bit different from the fishing. This is the third hill climb i've done over this summer the other's were Snowdon & Cader idris. We do a climb once every 3 weeks on a Monday which doesnt interfere with my club matches on a Sunday.

Here's a link to the route i'm taking. http://www.leaney.org/lake_district_...id=577&thumb=Y

Nice to see you getting out and about Paul, we really all should do a bit .
My better half has just described part of her walking holiday about 7 years back. The cottage base looked out over Glenridding so that was their start point for most walks and her most scary one involved negotiating Striding Edge in less than perfect conditions weather and visibility wise

Smile Photos from Mondays walk up Helvelyn

Here's a few photo's from Monday's walk to Helvelyn. Very steep & quite scary

Striding Edge ....... not for the faint hearted

Smile More photos Cadar Idris

Here are a few more photos from a walk I did on a lovely sunny day in July. The mountain was Cadar Idris which is the biggest mountain you can see when looking back from Barmouth in Wales. Again a 3,000ft + ascent with steep climbing. Approx 6hrs walk. A resonable level of fitness required

Walk clockwise up over the top & down the other side.

Great photos Paul. Good to see the cloud was kind on you and way up.

Last time I took a group up Snowdon the Met office report was that the cloudbase was not below 4,500ft. Half way we noticed that the cloud was dropping, dramatically. At 2,700ft we walked into the cloud and had the "pleasure" of enduring walking through a hailstorm up to the summit. A strange experience!

Nice pictures Paul!

Brought the memories back of when I went up Cadar Idris! Yes reasonable level of fitness required, and that was a fair few years back so dont know if I would manage it now!

Thing is though cant believe you didnt take a rod and have a go in that lake at the bottom... sure it must be solid with F1's! Hee hee
