Default Coniston and Swirl How Fell Walk

On Monday 25th Feb I headed off to Coniston for another ''Bracing'' walk up big pointy mountains and back down again hopefully in one piece

Forecast was for a cloudy day with increasing winds and the possibility of snow later.

This was a 10 mile 6hr walk with the summits of Old Man of Coniston (803m ) and Swirl How (804m) the big un's to get over.

Although steep in places and a decent height this walk wasn't the hardest I've done. However we experienced a rapid change in the weather with the cloud base falling onto the summits making navigation by compass necessary. The wind also increased and snowfall made it quite uncomfy as we made our way off the fells. You definitely need the right clothing and be able to use a map and compass to stop yourself from walking over a 2500ft mountain top

We had our obligotory pint in a very nice pub in Coniston with a roaring real fire b4 enjoying the rain and spray of the M6 for the drive home

Here are a few photos from the day.

Question Walk or Fish?

Thanks for the kind comments gents. I sorta ''fell'' into this mountain walking lark after a supposedly one off walk up Snowdon a couple of years ago with 3 mates from work. We've just continued with some of Britains highest peaks. We have climbed them all to the top accept Ben Nevis were we had to give up approx 400ft ( In Height not distance) from the summit due to the life threatening weather conditions and i aint joking it was very treacherous indeed.

This me at the point of us turning back on Ben Nevis March 2007

Back to the subject of Match Fishing

I spent a lot of time and money last year match fishing all over the country all without a ''partner'' to share expenses. This year i intend to cut back on both the number of matches i fish and limit the distances i travel. Hopefully those of u who know me will see me on the bank at least once for Kingfishers Memorial match when it is sorted and i will continue to frequent the board as always although i havent been posting too much lately.

Enjoy the forthcoming season guys .

Tight lines

Scatty.
