Default Another Fell walk

On Mon 17th March I was once again walking in the cumbrian fells adding a few more Wainwright summits to my list. This time we walked up High Street and Kidsy Pike via the spectacular Riggindale Crags and then over High Raise before returning back to Mardale Head on the banks of Haweswater were the car was parked. A distance of 9 miles and a total ascent of 2700ft.

The summits were snow topped but the weather was perfect with good visibility. However the wind chill was a biting -10 on the fell tops so being well prepared for the cold was essential.

Riggindale Crags. We walked over these to the snow covered summit

It was a very enjoyable day and the views were worth the effort.

Lovely corner of the Lakes, that. Even at the height of the season its pretty deserted .

For years and years the only golden eagles in England nested just down from there- saw them once soaring over Mardale Ill Bell, wonderful sight.
