Default Fat people banned from planes - Easyjet

Easyjet has today announced that they are going to introduce in 2009 a policy to charge people based on their body weight.

We have all seen the introduction of smaller luggage allowance's and charges for extra bags and per kilo over and above the reduced baggage allowance.

Each passenger is permitted

* one standard piece of hand baggage to maximum dimensions of 55x40x20cm, and
* Up to 8 pieces of checked-in hold baggage to a maximum combined weight of 20kg. A fee per kilo for excess weight is charged at the airport prior to departure

As of 2009 additional charges will apply for passengers over ideal BMI for their height; -

Height & Weight Table For Men

5' 2" 10 st 4 lbs
5' 3" 10 st 6 lbs
5'' 4" 10 st 9 lbs
5' 5" 10 st 12 lbs
5' 6" 11 st 2 lbs
5' 7" 11st 7 lbs
5' 8" 11 st 10lbs
5' 9" 11 st 13 lbs
5' 10" 12 st 3 lbs
5' 11" 12 st 6lbs
6' 0" 12 st 9 lbs
6' 1" 12 st 13 lbs
6' 2" 13 st 3 lbs
6' 3" 13 st 7 lbs
6' 4" 13 st 10 lbs

A spokesman for Easyjet said "With the increase in fuel charges this was an inevitable step that all airlines will be forced to take in the coming months, Easyjet are the first to announce plans. Some customers will benefit from the plans as we will introduce savings for those under the mean weights. There will obviously be those that disagree with the implementation of this policy but it is unfortunate it is impossible to continue without such charging structure in place."

Looking into this further there is no actual fee structure as yet but if it is anything like the charges for baggage excess you could be looking at £5 a kilo over the above!
