HELP! What Would You Do
I bought a new computer,('e system') New 17ins.Screen, Printer/Scanner/Photocopier from Currys 18 months ago, the computer does not get worked that often as there is only my Wife and I who use it.
The problem I have is that after 12 months when the guarantee ran out I was given the option to take further cover out for approx. 200 pounds, I refused this as I thought the computer should last a few years. How wrong I was, after another 6 months the computer has packed up, my Wife went to Currys to explain to a salesperson and was told in no uncertain terms that we did not have any legal right as we had refused extra cover.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
P.S. I have typed this out on a friends computer.
Cheers

O have a nice IT expert for a friend, must prob with computers are very simple and need only few components to make it work.
I have about 10 old comp in the house and always repair the extended family units.
and when I haven't the components I create abrids which work better then badged units.
Now just post or pm your problem and I will look at work if we have replacment for you
or put you on the right road to fix it
cheers

The advise so far given is sound, but if you gave some clues as to what was wrong it might give the more technically minded a few clues. and suggestions as to what may be wrong would be easier to give.
As Larry has said it might be a simple problem to put right, as its not acually to difficult to replace many of the parts that may go wrong.
Does it do anything as you can usually hear the power supply running, after that the hard disc led on the front of the machine will flash, other areas were there may be a fault is in the memory stick/s, the central processor unit, or the bios battery is dead, the worst case scenario is if the motherboard is shot but unlikely on a 12 month old machine.

i watched a prgram on this type of problem the other day
some woman had a similar problem with a laptop.
she ended up getting touch with the manufacturers of the PC.
they repaired it.
the jist of it was that these things are supposed to have a reasonable life span, the manufacturers will quite often look in to these premature problems. firstly its good PA FOR THEM and 2nd this can highlight what could be an ongoing problem with that model of PC.
i would give it a go what you got to loose
