Unhappy Preston Pellet Feeder Problems?

Hi All,

I'm experiencing problems when using prestons pellet feeders. I use 4" hooklinks and they keep snapping!

I started with preston precision 5lb3oz hooklinks, then went to 5lb drennan team england. Mainline is 6lb korum.

The fish aren't big enough to be snapping the line and im not striking like a nutter.

The links are snapping in various places along the lenghth, at various times (1st fish, 3rd fish, 5th fish etc) costing me a couple of matches.

Does anyone else get this? The design seems to allow rubbing of the line on the feeder?

If they are the problem, can anyone recommend another manufacturers? Guru's seem expensive.

Thanks in advance,

PoDd

funny you should say that ive had the same prob with drennan ones and talking to various members of clubs/forums most are of the opinion that most pre-tied hooks are pants, you are much better tying your own,ive now binned mine and use my own and problems have ceased hope this helps

Well, I tie my own, and thought it may be that to start with, but they snap in different places. If i've tied a bad one i tend to just loose the hook?

if it is allowed that is all i use.. cas 8lb braidcast will never ever snap in normal fishing situations and it is only 0.08 thick instead of 0.21 in mono

I use spade hooks tied using a matchman tyer, whatever that standard knot is.

I connect it to the loop on the feeder elastic using a figure of eight loop.

both wetted with saliva
