Default Feeder fishing help

I have been toying with the idea of getting myself a feeder rod and real, but have never fished that way before.

Are there any web sites that may help or can anyone help by advising what I would need?

I know I obviously need a feeder rod, reel and line, but what else is needed. How do I go about setting myself for the first-time fishing a feeder rod?

Should I get method feeders, bombs or open-ended feeders? How do I connect these to a line? What hook and line strenght is required? Is anything else required?

Thank you in advance.

hi feeder fishing depends on what type of fishing you are going to do.
carp fishing at distance tends to mean a powerful feeder rod with a big reel and
feeders i use a carbon active or diawa porky with a preston method feeders
line wise i use 8lb main line with 7lb hook length the feeders are either elasticated
or free running thats down to fishery rules.
river fishing is different again you can use block end feeders grip mesh or maggot feeders
on a running rig semi fixed rig or the loop these rigs can be used for tench barbel ,bream and carp your best bet it go to your local tackle shop and tell them what kind of fish you plan to catch and the waters you want a rod that will play carp but dont buy a 2.5 test curve carp rod for rivers

feeder fishing where do you start

well to start with there are lots of different rods to go at starting with a wand(super light for those winter silver fish)then there is the bomb rod(again very light for silver fish and shy bream)next is the light feeder rod (as it says light but will handle good size fish up to 5lb)then the med feeder (when you looking for good bream or small carp) next the heavy feeder (for rivers big carp)you also have muti length feeder rods 11ft-13ft and 12ft-14ft (they come in med/heavy heavy/x heavy mainly to give advantage of distance) ok the popular one the method feeder rod (for carp dont realy have another use in my eyes) reels well just get shimano (easy covered but get a stradic very strong reel)as for feeders and method/feeders there are loads to go at as long as they hold the bait will be fine.as for attaching them well best thing i could suggest is buy a dvd or book on feeder fishing or just ask a pal once you seen them done easy m8 trust i will have a look to see if i have a dvd to help better still here is something i found lol
look below covers most knots

Fishing Knots

hope this has helped a little

In addition to above there are lots of good videos out there to give you advice. Personally I've picked up some good feeder tips from off the tight lines website.

This video shows a really good method that doesn't use any extra equipment. Also there's lots of other videos that can give you tips and show a few different rods, reels and rigs.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

If you look here: V2V Angling Productions Ltd
there's a couple of clips from our films. The ones of most interest to you will be Neil Machin Speed Mould and Will Raison Carp on the Rod 1; Feeder and Bomb

I shouldn't really encourage second-hand sales of our superb DVDs, but why not buy Will's Feeder and Bomb film from here:
http://www.talkangling.co.uk/upload/...dvds_sale.html

Save you some money, help you learn a new technique, introduce you to our films and help a TA member achieve a sale all in one go.
