Go to your diy store and buy 2 rake heads strap them together with cable ties and attach a rope which ever way around it lands it will work total cost around 15quid

This bloke knows his onions, take his advice but be sure if you do it in advance, remove the evidece or you may turn up to find some enterprising angler reaping the benifits of your hard work. Regards Peter.

You know why have huge tench in that canal??

Because big tench thrive in very weedy waters.

Obviously, you'll leave a lot of the weed in there and check the weed that you do remove for baby tench that get trapped in it as you rake it out.

I had one made out of a piece of steel ( 1" x 1/4" ) about 15" long and had holes drilled along its length , you then get some threaded rod and cut to 6" long , pass through holes and put a nut at either side . it weights loads so it colours the bottom up as well .
