Default Fisheries own pellets - what price?

Ok guys, what's yer price?

We charge a quid a pint for basic feed pellets, £1.50 for betaine feeders and £1.50 for expanders. Are these reasonable enough?

There is the other thread about fishery owners ripping off anglers and yet I see anglers with bags of 'branded' pellets for which they have paid a small fortune (£3 for 900 grams in one instance) and tiny pots of soft hookers for £3 or more too.

I started thinking the other day about the cost of entering a match when you have to buy pellets etc., but then I thought about the price of bloodworm / joker and a kilo of worms for chopping.

So, let's continue the de-bait ()

I would say around 2.50 a kilo is about the national average

Rolfs for argumants sake sell a kilo at that price or 9 bags for 20 quid

a kilo equates to about 2 and 3/4 pints

I was paying £2.60/kg bag of feed pellets, which seemed reasonable - but I noticed the quantity has gone down from 1kg to 750g for the same price. If my maths hasn't failed me that works out at the equivalent of a 30% increase per gram, which seems a tad greedy to me given that you can't choose to use an alternative pellet

The tackle shop I use charges £1.50 per pint .A fishery I had a match on last week was charging £2.00 for 750grms but you can use your own hookers other places I have been charge between £2.50 and £3.50 per bag and you have to use there crap hookers.
Makins now make you use Stim Swim Green Feed Pellets and I knwo that depending where you are the price varies greatly
Fish Farmer I think that you have got it just about right and that all other fisheries should follow your lead
I have a friend that has a fishery and he told me that last year he made a profit on his pellets that have to be used on his fishery was and get this £40,000
Not bad for repacking a few pellets

Cheers mate, I have to say no angler has ever complained. Don't know what is so special about green swim stim, our greene betaines seeem to work well for those who try them, but most anglers just buy the standard feed pellets. I'm surprised we don't sell more expanders though, they are a good product.

My local shop is £1.25 per pint of pellets. Was £1.00 until this year. And they sell both the Skerritings and Coppins. I have never cheated and took my own pellets to a fishery that makes you use there's. If they rip me off I try not to go again, but being a team angler it is sometimes hard to avoid. I think a fair price is £1.50 a pint. But most commercials make more money out of pleasure anglers who fish 2-12 times a year and thats the market they try to rip off, there the anglers who dont know better and cost is not an issue because they only go a few times a year.

When you look at commercials look at some off the charges for breakfast and soft drinks at a £1 a can. To many rules and overpricing puts me off fisheries. But I am in the minority because I fish on average 100 times a year, and cost is took more into consideration. If a fishery can get away with it, they will. The only way round it is for anglers to stop going and only when that happens will the owners be forced to drop there price.

I once remember going to a very well know fishery in Worcester and anglers complaning about the price of a breakfast, the owner turned round and said I would rather sell 10 breakfast's at £5 than 20 at £2.50. This is how the world has gone people want more money for doing less. And to be fair most of us want more money for doing less. The recession might change that for the next couple of years.

Think a pound a pint is a fair price. Fisheries will still make money on them at that price. £40 000 profit on pellets is obscene
