Default bristol avon barbel, need help with set ups

hi guys, going to give barbel fishing ago with leger/feeder, never done it before so need advice on a good basic rig set up,i know that there are nice chub, bream, and some barbel so would like to use an allround bait, i've only got a feeder rod with 1,2,3oz quiver tips,i know i should use a barbel rod but im not expecting to catch big barbel, just hoping for any ideas on what rig i should use, such as running leger, fixed, semi fixed, size lb line, which quiver to use, best baits,so if you've done barbel fishing and know of a great set up that works please let me know... thanks plus would like hear if you have had good barbel from around the bristol side of the avon... thanks again..

hello mate, have been thinking about barbel bashing myself. as the avon is on my doorstep. if you are local, pop into bacons tackle shop, they will put you on the right road. pics of big barbel everywhere.
as for rigs.basic running rigs, with a variety of baits. pellets, corn, etc. line 8lb to 15lb main line, hooklengths 5lb to 8lb. i think they even catch the bream on pellet as well, so you can still catch even with the heavier gear. hope this helps.

The best tackle shop to visit if you want specific advice about Barbel fishing in the Bristol Avon is Keynsham Angling Centre.

The guy (Nick) that runs it is a specialist Barbel angler.
