Default Pole Elastics

Hey again guys, been fishing away now with black hydro in 3 of my tops I also have 14, 16 latex in another two and white hydro again in my last two but I'm not happy with any of my strong stuff at all.

I want a change and was thinking of doubling up my elastics and having more of a range to suit species and different average weights.

What would be the best brand to go for if I was to double up and what grade should I use?

I fish mainly commies and the average fish is for argument sake 3-4lbs so would need recommendations for my open water tops and would again need advice on my margin tops. My pole is rated 16 max in my power kits.

Thanks in advance

i would'nt go for hyrdo, its soo over rated, its just the same as any hollow laccy, i find prestons hollow laccy controls the fish better, and hardly bumps off any fish even with the higher laccy rating,

i always use prestons hollow from 6-12 in my match kits and 14-18 in my powers, you dont really need higher than 18 with hollow, they control the fish much better than solid laccys,

if your doubling over laccy i would recomend going for mavers pure latex. Latex is extremely strechy but has lot of strengh all the way throught.

The doubled elastic you want is Preston Original Slip.

Doubled 8 = This should cover most commercial carping
Doubled 6 = Silvers and Carp up to 3lb

You could even use a doubled 10 for margins / real lumps.

mate if your fishing open water and the fish am that size and not alot bigger try the preston hollo 13 or 15 shud be fine for that size for shallow i like using the preston elastic double number 8 is just right but for the margins id use the double no.10 it will give you more control plus if you hit some bigger fish it will handle them no problem as well

Cheers for the info guys, I've been researching it all day and have decided to use preston H12 for open water and am also going to double up a number 10 for the lumps and trial it for a few pleasure sessions.

My other question is if you double up the laccy, how do you attach it all inside the top kit? Tie both ends on the bung? and I prefer crows foot so how would I work that?

Any links or diagrams would be a bonus.

I use a drennan winder bung just hook the elastic on and wind a few turns on winder, but use a dacron connector. In your case you would have an extra spiders leg.

I would recommend using Pulla Bungs with doubled elastics.
