Post need to know things about canal fishing for newbs

can someone tell me the answers to these questions bearing in mind its for canal fishing and i am a complete begginer:

what hook size do i use
what bait should i use
what size line

for roach fishing or gudgeon. ie small fish.........20 22
pinkie or bread punch
.8 about 1 and a half pounds breaking strain
hook length .6 about 1 pound BS
really depends on what canal and where......types of fish present

If you go in the tackle shop they will sell you a canal rig ready made.
See how its made up and then you can start making your own as Larry said size 20/22 hooks ideal.
All I would put to the baits list is an hadfull of mixed maggots.




Its easier this way mate you should get a few answers

its a canal running through middle which sandbach and basicly all of chesire

pop into your local shop as ridgecare said above, find out what your liable to catch and in what areas. You dont wanna go set up for small fish if your gonna hook lumps and vice versa.
