But what are the cheaper versions of the Normark rods really like, surely they can't be as good as the originals.

i bourght a set today. although there rrp is £150 , i dont expect there performance to be around that mark. how ever a rod for £50 quid with a ten year warranty has to be worth it. ive had very exspencive rods in the past and i find that some makes are no different from there cheaper models. just normark has a very good reputation so i think for 50 quid they will be ok.

I think the action of the rod while playing fish is what you are paying for and the original Normarks have a beautiful action, let me know what these new ones are like.

The method feeder and commercial carp rods are poor. I've had and sold a Titan II which felt beautiful but locked up. The Microlite II is an outstanding rod, as good as Normark have ever made, and possibly even better than my Titan 3000 which retailed at £475 when they made it. The 13' quiver is good as well, but is really a heavy river rod and a bit too pokey for stillwaters.

I hope Normark are not jumping on the bandwagon of super mass produced rods,

I still have my 12ft Norboron which would probably stand up to most new rods on the market today.

They really have been a sign of quality over the years

I talked to thier tech guy on the phone, and they just import them from china fully made up. He couldn't even tell me what carbon cloth they were made from. That doesn't mean they're all crap - just that you can't rely on the design coming from them like you can with Daiwa Tournaments, Spectrons etc.
