So it turned out to be one of those days when the floating pole didnt really work.... the guys round me caught odd fish but I stuck with using proper up in the water (with a float) tactics and kept working it... the fish however with the weather were on one of those sunbathing days as it got to about 30 degrees and everyone was suffering from the heat and everyone was struggling to catch - some even only had 1 or 2 fish.

I eventually managed to get a few F1's interested in the last couple of hours and ended up with 57lb which was third on the day - the other end of the lake 2 lads fished floating buscuit - another method I really don't like the end peg had 153lb and peg 2 had 80lb... everyone else really struggled.

In hindsight should have got the waggler rod out and fished to the middle of the lake but the shape of the lake meant lots of people would have been crossing each other.

The winner got to his peg and said he could see loads of great big black torpedos just sitting there, there were several doubles and probably 8lb average!

Well done for getting in the money Simon.
Better that you enjoyed the day and felt better for working for your fish.
Did you try down the edge for those lumps ?
