Question Tackle Trade

Do you think that the tackle trade are pricing themselves out of business? I certainly do, with the current climate regarding jobs, money, all types of houshold bills rising including food, petrol, diesel, Bait and Taxes on everything people will have to cut back on certain items and I believe Angling Tackle will be one of them. Angling Times Tuesday August 12th a Browning Float £2, Preston Innovations Ricky Teale trying to justify another 'C' series Carbonactive rod, (any mugs out there), a Rig Manager from Korum, £29: 99p, shall we call that £30, (dont they mean a small tackle box). Fox reels £249 upwards, with Poles, Rods and Seatbox prices rising where will it all end.
Less people Angling I fear.

Like everything new on the market the prices are always high first off

let the posers empty there pockets the prices always end up dropping for those that dont mind waiting. if you think about it
those that dont need to be a part of the fishing fashion brigade should prosper, as more and more new products appear on the market
the shops will have trouble moving the older models this always ends up in huge discounts as they soon become de valued.

I do however believe value for money doesnt always ring true and that there is a lot of expensive rubbish out there

Your spot on Paul!

Folks like Ricky Teale may be right, this new rod may be a bit better than the last one, BUT! Who got everything out of the old one? Did any of the owners think I'm out performing my rod? I don't think so. Buy and use what is right for you, it may be an airity, or it may be the leeda assassin it's YOUR choice, not let the marketing men tell you what you need. Or for that matter the idiots at the Angling times, every week a wonder bait, rod, reel or rig.
Like everything else in life, do what You want, make yourself happy. I remember 20 odd years ago buying a Boss box like the stars had, I thought I might not be as good an angler, but my arse is as good as theirs! Great box

I still park my bum on an old ASI and have got a spare for if that should ever wear out. I use original Normark float rods that must be 15 years or more old and feeder and bomb rods of similar vintage. The ONLY bit of tackle that really matters are the items that present the bait to the fish the rest of it just gets it to where the fish are.
