Richie I wasnt digging you out and aprechiate its what you have been told, I would love to know the answer 100% myself

I know I wouldnt let anyone on my land unless they had a justifyable reason and made an appointment, and if I found someone I wouldnt be asking questions first.

It would seem there are two types of EA officials there are water baliffs and Enforcement officers, Im not exactly sure of the difference im still researching the issue but it would seem the information isnt readily available and I have been rummaging through government office files to do with the EA in a effort to find the exact answer.

I did however pull one interesting peice out of the bag how I read it is that old rumour of them being able to arrest you is no more than a citizens arrest you and I can perform, cant comment on enforcement officers though.

I think the only sure way to determine this would be to write to them

JC , just had a quick look on the net and found , on the Scottish government site , the powers of a water bailiff . It recons that an English water bailiff has the same powers , here's briefly what it said . A water bailiff may , at any hour , enter and remain on land in the vicinity of a river etc etc to detect persons guilty of a breach of provisions . This does not include a dwelling house or any associated yard/garden or outhouse . This seems to confirm what i was told earlier by an E.A bailiff
