Default New Reel advice

Hiya,

I'm returning to fishing after a long time away (work n stuff!!)
I only intend to leasure fish on my local canal and am looking for a new reel.

Nothing too flash, but things have changed since I last cast a line!
Also, what would be a good line to use? and tied hooks or hooks-to-nylon?
The canal is the Grand Union (not that I suppose that matters).

Any advice would be greatfully welcomed.

AC

i prefer eyed hooks because nylon when takin out of the plastic then straightening out they tangle up any reel on ebay should do when you are jut getting into fishing again then do another post later on when you want to target bigger fish in the canal like tench and carp
