Default River fishing

i have a very small river by me which apparently has some trout and roach in

iv never fished a river before so any advise on what methods i could use

i have a float rod and a very light canal feeder rod

i know i will need to get some differnat floats as i just have normal lake wagglers at the moment

what baits do you think would be best??

the canal is the river frome in gloucestershire

pop into Lobby's tackle in Stonehouse, one of the lads will be able to tell you exactly what you need and how to fish which ever section you are wanting to fish, the river Frome runs parallel to the Stroudwater canal by the way and isn't part of the canal system. if you would like to know for some free fishing on the little avon by the way let me know.
