Braid - Talk Angling fishing chat and tackle advice

this Braid thing has raised its head over the last few days.....I cant believe people are still using it for hook lengths its like a cheese wire it cuts.I understand using it in fact i have some.But hook length no way Is it me am i out of touch ...well i dont think so its BANNED from any match i run .

You obviously feel quite strong about it Larry. I have never used braid as main line or hook length. I don't intend to start if it damages the fishes mouth. I wanted to know more as braid was not used when I was a kid. I know from you guys that braid is banned on a lot of fisheries, obviously the owners of these fisheries feel the same way as you, so my question is why is it still allowed to be used as hooklength when it causes damage?

Braid is very good as a main line for skimmers and bream on hard venue's and will indicate far more bites than mono, but i have never used it for a hook length as i want something more forgiving that won't pull the hook when playing fish.
