I agree with d.n.w. about the one style or the other, not mixing.
personally i reckon loads of crucians, tench, f1's or f2's golden orfe?
something that's gonna pull the elastic a bit, but not grow massive.
sounds great. good luck with it.

If you put Silverfish in a 32 peg pool there is not going to be a lot of room left for any fish!

Sorry Danny.......

A couple of points:

I'd go with F1's, Barbel, Chub, Roach and Bream, the F1's should keep the carp mob happy, and the others wont be bullied too much and suffer because of them.

Secondly, you get a big thumbs up, for even stopping to think about it! Most people, and that includes BW just go for carp and more carp.

Good luck with the venture....Mark

have not voted yet,a lot depends on where the venue is,what other venues are in the area,no point in trying to compete with a over stocked super comercial thats just up the road, especailly if peace and quite are major attractions, what depths are there going to be? 2-5 acres is a fair size for 32 pegs, but the quantities of fish that will be required to get people fishing it,can soon become a problem, when the Carp have doubled in size, which will happen very quickly or the Silvers have been breeding for 2 or three years.
Not trying to be too negative, but a lot of thought for the future is needed, having met and fished with you i am sure you already know this,I would suggest you have a run through to Westwood res.same size, and have a talk with Steve Hinson.(He fished on the next peg to you at Pine Lakes in the YMA/YF match last year.See the balence they have.

I hanker for the "good old days" viz Roach, Perch, Tench, Crucians, and Bream. It seems to me that once Carp, and F1's are stocked, they tend to dominate other species. Having said that, it seems that Carp are what people want these days, so that is what commercials stock.
If Gudgeon grew to 50lbs, what then?

Default Silvers only

The reason ,I have voted for silvers only is , there are too many carp puddles around, and how many times do you read about fisheries being hit with carp virus's.
Another reason to have a silver pool is , the rivers always seem to be in flood, if you have planned to fish a match on the river the weekend, got all your bait, sorted your tackle out,
there is nothing more frustrating for the match to be transferred to the nearest carp venue,
yes I know the weights would be bigger, but i personally would prefer to catch 10-20lb of quality roach, perch , skimmers, tench and maybe some chub, on the maggot, Castor, instead of the pellet or paste.
I am sure you would get a large influx of club matches, booking your pool.
Well that's my opinion

I think you got to ask yourself do you want to make money, or do you want a match fishery or try to combine the two

carp, tench, skimmers, roach. If you fill it with f1 you will have good sport for say 6years but then they will start to die and you will fined your self restocking. This happened to a friend of mine and he restocked his place with carp and tench.f1's are to easy to catch there is no skill needed to bag up on them.Carp and tench will give you sport in the summer and the skimmers and roach will keep you going in the winter.
