I'd go with mainly f1s if ur allowed to stock them ,but enough must be put in to get them feeding well in winter.Also wudnt bother with carp as i think it's just like a time bomb waiting to go off with KHV.

I voted on f1,carp and ide stocking but would agree with some of the other guys and also put in some crucians, tench and silvers and not so many carp, also i would like to ask, is it right that f1's do'nt spawn?.

f1s and barble and silver fish have no worries about khv ruining your lake and losing a fortune with carp dying

Having visited nothing but lakes stuffed with carp recently (my choice), a lake with no carp at all sounds like a refreshing change.
A lake with the usual roach, rudd, tench and bream would be nice if it suited the current trend. But I would like to see added to that crucians, chub and dare I say barbel.
Then there was that article in the Times about a fishery that stocked rainbows which feed in all weathers. There is a fishery near me that got around the closed season years back by being an 'any method' trout fishery and when we hooked a trout you knew it too.
As long as you have a silvers only lake then put something in there that will be a bonus like the barbel, trout etc.
Just make sure you have the right amount of pegs to keep it competitive for the matches.

F1's go throught he motions of spawning but they don't actually reproduce.

A venue with just silverfish wouldn't work in the donny area, I fished a venue last sunday and had a 30lb+ mixture of Roach perch and skimmers at the cost of £1.50 for a day ticket and I was the only person on the place which has 2 lakes!

It would need to have carp or F1's in to do any good over the long term a new venue will always get a few visitors when it first opens but unless word get around that you can catch big nets of fish visitors will tail off.

There's a pool in fishlake just outside Donny that is literally a hole in the ground it look terrible but it's well stocked and matches are won with 150lb+ in summer 60lb+ in winter.............it's booked by clubs every week for matches. Picturesque and quiet is nice but doesn't work unless it's solid with fish.

if your making an island in the middle then ensure its no more than 13mtrs from your peg,its going to attract more anglers on seats as all of match anglers can reach that distance and it would be more competitve for any angler
